Chloe Calderon Chotrani is a movement artist based in Singapore.
She is a performer for dance companies P7:1SMA, Chowk, and is an associate artist with Dance Nucleus in Singapore. She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Asian Art from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, and a BA in Arts Management, completed through a full dance scholarship at De La Salle–Benilde in Manila.
Chloe left the ballet stage and danced for many years on the streets of Metro Manila deep in the hip-hop and cypher scene. Later on, diving into rigorous research by travelling and learning forms and philosophies to West Africa, India, New York, and within Nusantara or Southeast Asia, She has performed and worked internationally with Legit Status Philippines, B Supreme London, Omi International Dance Collective in Hudson, Evidence Dance Community, Movement Research in New York, and Gati Dance Forum in New Delhi.
Occasionally, as a writer, she reviews dance performances for regional arts publication Arts Equator, creates content, and writes for an archive of Southeast Asian performing artists. Interdependently, her artistic practice is rooted on the studies on softness, which she explores as a way of life. When she's not dancing or writing, she is tending to plants in her food garden, immersed in nature, and making space for nothingness.
